Of all tropical countries, Costa Rica is one of the most recommended for its ecotourism, wonderful people, cleanliness, and welcoming spirit.  Costa Rica is full of diverse microclimates, tropical rainforests, stunning beaches and active volcanoes.  The country has 25 national parks, but also has protected marine and private reserves, with protected land making up almost 26% of the country. The variety and abundance of wildlife attracts conservationists and tourists alike to see the monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, jaguars, exotic birds and sea turtles in their natural habitat.  Costa Rica has a variety of beaches on the Caribbean and the Pacific coasts, ideal for sunbathing, surfing, deep sea fishing and scuba diving, depending on the location.  The rivers of Costa Rica provide for exciting river rafting, kayaking or crocodile tours, and the lakes offer windsurfing, fishing and spectacular views.  Our local expert Jorge is happy to take you into the jungle to explore the amazing sights and sounds Costa Rica has to offer, while giving you the history of the various kinds of rainforests, trees and animals of this beautiful country.

Costa Rica has two seasons, the rainy season and the dry season. The dry season lasts from December until April and is called summer by Costa Ricans. In the highlands of Costa Rica, they can register only one or two rainy days per month during this time. The rest of the year is the rainy season, or winter, during which time torrential rains often fall in the afternoon. In Jaco, the temperature changes very little around the year, and even in rainy season, there are days with little or no rain at all. Most days, the sun shines in the morning, and dramatic thunder showers roll in during the evening, creating a fantastic show from the bungalows of Vista Guapa. Don’t be fooled by the weather indicators for Costa Rica on Yahoo! or other websites. These sites usually indicate the weather for San Jose, which, situated at 1,150 meters altitude, enjoys some of the lowest temperatures of the country, from 15° C (59° F) to a maximum of 26° C (78° F). In contrast, on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, temperatures tend to range from 23° C (73° F) to 34° C (93° F). No jacket required.
